We get asked why we delay the testing of new D365 SCM (formerly D365 F&O) updates until after the Generally Available ("GA") release is made.

Our past experience has shown that there are often issues and differences that arise during the early preview and even First release versions of an update. This means testing done on those releases is wasted if issues arise and Microsoft have to resissue the update.

A good example is this issue from 10.0.42 Update in December 2024.

This announcement shown below to early preview users, documents uncovered issues with the 10.0.42 update that mean it must be withdrawn and reissued.

Situations like this are why we wait until the GA release of a given update is out before we commence compatibility assessment or testing.

In some rare case, we will knowlingly test on early or first release previews when we know there is significant change. the last known of these was in the 10.0.34 update when the deprecatation of ISV licenses signed with SHA1 algorithm was made.

As this could impact Demand Forecasting customers, we ensured this was not an issue by testing on all vrsion of the 1`0.0.34 update we could ahead of time. This took a lot of time and effort.
