If you have a valid Farsight Demand Forecasting licence installed but the Number of Licensed Demand Forecasting Users displays as "None" instead of a numeric value such as 3, 10, or Unlimited, this is usually caused by a mismatch between the customer name in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365FO) and the customer name specified in the Demand Forecasting licence file.
Symptoms
In the Demand Forecasting Parameters screen, clicking the Info button shows:
Number of Licensed Demand Forecasting Users: None
instead of your allocated licence count.
Cause
Demand Forecasting verifies licensing using the Customer Name configured within your D365FO environment.
If the customer name stored in D365FO does not exactly match the customer name contained in the licence file supplied by Farsight, the system cannot validate the licence and therefore cannot determine the number of licensed Demand Forecasting users.
Even small differences can cause the licence check to fail, including:
- Uppercase or lowercase character differences
- Extra or missing spaces
- Different abbreviations
- Punctuation changes
- Variations in company name spelling
How to Check the Customer Name
Open your D365 Finance & Operations environment.
Navigate to:
? > About > Legal
Locate the Customer Name.
Compare it against the customer name recorded in the Demand Forecasting licence file provided by Farsight.
Confirm the names match exactly, including:
- Upper and lower case letters
- Spaces
- Punctuation
- Company suffixes (for example, Ltd, Limited, Pty Ltd)
Resolution
Where possible, update the customer name configuration within D365FO so that it matches the customer name contained in the Demand Forecasting licence file exactly.
Once the names match, the licensed user count should be recognised correctly and displayed within Demand Forecasting.
If you are unable to update the customer name in D365FO, Farsight can issue an updated licence file that matches the amended customer name.
If you are unable to update the customer name across all your environments, so it is identically spelled to match the Demand Forecasting license file, then please contact Farsight Solutions for assistance. We can issue Demand Forecasting Licenses which do not use the customer name when checking the license.
Important
To ensure Demand Forecasting licences are recognised correctly, all D365FO environments (including Production, UAT, Test, and Development environments) should use exactly the same customer name spelling as the installed Demand Forecasting licence file. Maintaining consistent customer name values across all environments will avoid licence validation issues.
